BOKSBURG RESIDENTS PROTEST OVER POWER CUTS

JOHANNESBURG – The Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) stated its officers have been monitoring the Boksburg region on Monday after residents barricaded roads with burning tyres and rocks to protest strength cuts.

Frustrated residents blocked the R554 and Rondebuilt roads early on Monday morning.

“In Boksburg, nook Rondebult and R554, between Dawn Park and Klipoortjie, the avenue is closed due to a protest motion taking place. Motorists are recommended to use choice roads to keep away from any similarly delays,” stated EMPD spokesperson Deliwe Ndlovu.

Roads in Boksburg have been blockaded with burning tyres and rocks.

Ekurhuleni metro police spokesperson Deliwe Ndlovu stated there is a protest at the nook of Rondebult Road and the R554 between Dawn Park and Klippoortjie in Boksburg.

“Motorists are cautioned to use choice routes to keep away from in addition delays,” Ndlovu said.

He stated residents are protesting in opposition to electrical energy blackouts in the area.
